The new DiscoverAus Streets & tracks Topo combines Magellans existing mapping software with contours like those shown on traditional paper topographic maps. The most exciting innovation to this new version is the elevation contours - which can be displayed at varying intervals (down to 5 meters) depending on Map zoon level (from 1:3000 to 1:200 000) plus you can use the unique Magellan "Profile" function which shows a vertical profile cross section of the upcoming terrain for your journey. The mapping also includes detailed city maps, suburban and country streets, minor sealed and unsealed roads, 4WD tracks and trails. 

The maps are currently available as a preloaded 512 MB SD memory card for the whole of Australia.

GPS TopoPLUS Australia 10m is a mapping product designed for use with most Garmin GPS Units. It contains contours at 10m intervals, that can be loaded to most Garmin mapping GPS. The mapping can be displayed simultaneously, and overlayed with other Garmin mapping products.

A licensed version of MapSource must already be installed to make use of this product (eg MetroGuide, Trip & Waypoint Manager). This mapping product can be unlocked to two Garmin GPS units if owned by the same user.

1: 250 000 scale vector map data. Series 3 is a representation of the major topographic features appearing on the 1:250 000 NATMAP topographic maps.

This product is designed to be used with Google Earth - no seperate viewing software is provided with this product as data is viewed using the Google Earth viewer. Data is the same as found in other Geodata Topo 250K Series 3 products produced by Geoscience Australia, however is provided in KML format in this product. The data is arranged in tiles to facilitate ready display, with only the current tile's data loaded at any time. However panning seamlessly to a neighbouring tile, this tile's data will then be loaded.

A simple way to access the latest map files, downloaded direct from Hema Maps. Each Explorer Card contains a unique code that can be entered on Hema’s Website, giving you access to download the map files. With the growing popularity of in-car navigation, Hema Maps has introduced two new titles available for download from our website. The fact that Hema Maps collects its road data via GPS mapping makes the regional maps perfect for use on Explorer products.

These two new Explorer Maps offer Hema’s popular paper regional maps in formats ready for use with your GPS tracking software, plus all the text and photos from the original maps in an easy-to-use webpage format. compatible with most major navigational programs, and if the user has a GPS, a laptop or personal organiser, and a matching navigational program, then they can provide in-car navigation. Explorer Card Maps are perfect companion products to use with the existing regional maps.

The map images on the CD are digital scans of DLI (formerly DOLA) and Geoscience Australia’s (Royal Australian Survey Corps) 1:50,000 topographical and cadastral map series that covers part of South West W.A. When available, the DLI’s Topo/Cad maps (with 10m contour intervals) have been used but in areas where no coverage from this series was available, the RASC maps were used. The Survey Corp maps do not show cadastral (land boundary) data and have 20m contour intervals shown.

The date when the original maps were first printed varies considerably but ranges from about the late 70’s to the late 90’s. Some are now out of print and unavailable for purchase. The maps are the most detailed available in digital raster format over this entire area and show all significant natural features (lakes, swamps, rivers, creeks, hills, coastal features etc) along with cultural features (tracks, roads, highways, towns, dams etc ) present at the time the data was collected for use to draft the maps.

The Maps on the CD has been specifically created for use with the popular OziExplorer GPS Mapping Software. Calibration files are included on the CD so users can start using the maps immediately. Calibration data is also supplied within the ECW files allowing geo-referencing data to be displayed while using other ECW viewing software (such as the ER Viewer supplied on the CD or ArcView) but the accuracy of this information is much lower than available when using OziExplorer.
