Hema 4WD Raster Map Collection DVD - Hema

With the growing use of in-car navigation, Hema Maps has produced a collection of raster maps on DVD. The DVD is based on images of Hema's regional maps and is compatible with most windows based navigational programs.

If the user has a GPS, laptop or personal organiser and a matching navigational program such as OziExplorer, or a program that can recognise ECW or OZF2 formatted files, then the Australia 4WD DVD will provide in-car navigation.

The DVD also contains a complete gazetteer as well as all the text and photographic information from the Hema regional maps at the click of an easy to locate menu button.

Note: Hema maps on the DVD are supplied in both ECW and OZF2 formats. Geoscience topographic maps are supplied in ECW format only. ECW is compatible with OziExplorer mapping software. Software on this disk is compatible with Windows-based PCs as well as Macs running Virtual PC. The maps are also compatible with all ECW-compatible GPS / GIS software.

Hema Explorer Cards

A simple way to access the latest map files, downloaded direct from Hema Maps. Each Explorer Card contains a unique code that can be entered on Hema's Website, giving you access to download the map files. With the growing popularity of in-car navigation, Hema Maps has introduced two new titles available for download from our website. The fact that Hema Maps collects its road data via GPS mapping makes the regional maps perfect for use on Explorer products.

These two new Explorer Maps offer Hema's popular paper regional maps in formats ready for use with your GPS tracking software, plus all the text and photos from the original maps in an easy-to-use webpage format. compatible with most major navigational programs, and if the user has a GPS, a laptop or personal organiser, and a matching navigational program, then they can provide in-car navigation. Explorer Card Maps are perfect companion products to use with the existing regional maps.

Ozi Explorer GPS Mapping Software

OziExplorer is GPS Mapping Software which will work with Magellan, Garmin, Lowrance, Eagle MLR and Silva GPS recievers for the upload and download of data, and most makes of GPS recievers for on screen tracking of position. OziExplorer allows you to work with maps, on the computer screen, that you create from scanned or purchased digital maps. By using these maps OziExplorer allows you to plan your trip by creating waypoints and routes on screen and upload these to your GPS. OziExplorer is ideal for planning trips for boating, 4 Wheel Driving and hiking aswell as a real time navigation aid.

WA Raster 50K CD Roms

3 Titles Available: Pilbara, Kimberley & South West Western Australia

The map images on the CD are digital scans of DLI (formerly DOLA) and Geoscience Australia's (Royal Australian Survey Corps) 1:50,000 topographical and cadastral map series that covers part of South West W.A. When available, the DLI's Topo/Cad maps (with 10m contour intervals) have been used but in areas where no coverage from this series was available, the RASC maps were used. The Survey Corp maps do not show cadastral (land boundary) data and have 20m contour intervals shown.

The date when the original maps were first printed varies considerably but ranges from about the late 70's to the late 90's. Some are now out of print and unavailable for purchase. The maps are the most detailed available in digital raster format over this entire area and show all significant natural features (lakes, swamps, rivers, creeks, hills, coastal features etc) along with cultural features (tracks, roads, highways, towns, dams etc ) present at the time the data was collected for use to draft the maps.

The Maps on the CD has been specifically created for use with the popular OziExplorer GPS Mapping Software. Calibration files are included on the CD so users can start using the maps immediately. Calibration data is also supplied within the ECW files allowing geo-referencing data to be displayed while using other ECW viewing software (such as the ER Viewer supplied on the CD or ArcView) but the accuracy of this information is much lower than available when using OziExplorer.
